I started my career with hair and makeup, in salons, on set, and at events, to support my love of music and touring. That was the first version of the same instinct behind everything I do now: a feel for how a surface reads and what it makes a person feel.
The rest followed the eye, from artistic portraits into photojournalism. Somewhere along the way I fell in love with design psychology and spent nine years studying why people respond the way they do, first at an augmented reality startup, then as a VP and user researcher at a Fortune 500 company. All of it adds up to taste I can explain and repeat. That research practice continues today as Winter Research.
